Evaluation Information
Registrations remain open from now through mid March. All registrations are done online through our website. The tryout registration fee is $100. This non-refundable fee is due prior to evaluations and will be applied to the season's tuition. Please note that Peewees and Bantams will be asked to list their position preference. This is not required for Mites and Squirts.
Registration will close in April to allow GHPYH time to determine approximate sizes for each tryout session to allow evaluators to provide the fairest evaluation. Therefore, it's critical to pre-register. Your seasons League fees must be paid in full, in order for your child to participate and attend the season they are registering for. Please contact the treasurer with questions about your tuition.
Evaluations for the HP Thunder Travel seasons (8U Travel-14U Travel) are typically held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in March, at the Haverhill High School Veteran’s Rink:
- Tryouts and evaluations for team placement for 8U (Mite) and 10U (Squirt), 12U Pee Wee, and 14U Bantam players, are listed on our Home Page once we confirm the dates, usually mid to late March
***Teams will be finalized a few weeks after tryouts.
All levels and players, except 16U participants and Instructional Mites, must attend the tryouts at the times assigned, for your group. You must attend ALL sessions. This is established to maintain fairness in the rating process and is not optional.
If your child is planning to be a GOALIE, they will tryout with their assigned age group (Squirt, Peewee, Bantam). Goalies will be evaluated at the group sessions. Mites do not have a goalie only position.
16U players are not required to participate in the tryout/team placement as we placing 16U/18U players according to the school that they attend. However, registration is still required to ensure your place on a team this fall.
A valid USA Hockey number is required for all Travel and Instructional programs. You can get your USA Hockey number after April 1st each year, by visiting www.usahockeyregistration.com.
All Players will be responsible for purchasing Two (2) Jerseys season. Jersey info will be shared when you register.
